'The Tide Is Turning' on Big Tech as Plaintiffs Firms File More Data Privacy Lawsuits

The National Law Journal interviewed Partner Carol C. Villegas about the rise in data privacy lawsuits.

As the U.S. Department of Justice pushes for more aggressive antitrust enforcement against Big Tech and the Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month advanced bipartisan legislation called the Open Markets Act to reign in technology companies, plaintiffs firms are leveraging the momentum with an eye toward increased litigation.

As consumers are left with navigating phones, apps, email and cookie settings on their personal computer and have to “figure out how to limit the information that is being sent—it’s impossible for anyone, even for the most sophisticated person,” Villegas said.
